On a nice sunny day we walked the public foothpath "riverside walk" near Oundle. Following the river Nene through the meadows. Saw how a ship was locked through. No lock-keeper, so everything in self-service. |
On a nice sunny day we drove through the Thetford forest. Beautiful forest. This time of the year the autumn colours are lovely. |
The Belvoir castle is a beautiful, large castle near Grantham. Rebuild in the 19th century by the dukes of Rutland. The name Belvoir means "beautiful view" and dates from Norman times. |
Identical lighthouses on both sides of the River Nene near Sutton Bridge. Where the river ends and the sea begins.... |
We stayed in England over Christmas. We started with Christmas shopping in London. We were lucky. No rain, but there was fog... Of course we went to see the towerbridge. |
Kings Lynn is a small old harbour town. The old custom house in the evening sun. |
We stayed in England over Easter. The weather wasn't too bad. Among other things we visited the Butterfly & Wildlifepark in Long Sutton. |
In July 2003 we stayed one week in England. The weather was magnificent (most of the days). This time we were able to visit the Belvoir castle, see before (the last time we went, the castle was closed). Nice room to have a dinner party. |
We also visited the Banham zoo. A compact Zoo with very nice birds and big cats. We watched the flight show with birds of pray (owl, falcon and vultures) Not in the show, but very impressive: the eagle. |
