My name
is Vincent van der Meer. I was born on 30 April 1979 in Rotterdam-south, near
the football stadium from Feyenoord "The pride off Rotterdam" the
Netherlands and now I live in Schiedam. I started spotting in 1993 when we went
to the Military Aviation Museum at Soesterberg AB in the Netherlands while walking
around in the museum we saw F-15's from the 32 FS make touch & go's all
the time and soon we went to go see if we could find a place to take a closer
look after some time we found "the Hill" for fun we wrote down the
serial numbers to see how long the F-15's would stay away. Those been the 1st
movements I made. About 3 weeks later we ended up at my 1st airshow at Eindhoven
AB that was also the first European show with an F-117A (static and flying). Before that time I already been at several Dutch navaldays in Den Helder and also a few Army days in Holland since 1988. But the most fun was the harbour
in Rotterdam where i've seen my 1st aircraft-carrier the HMS Ark Royal in 1988.

As you
probably already noticed on my webadress my favorite aircraft is the Saab Viggen
so I was very happy when in 1999 at the Belgium airshow Beauvechain I had the
chance to take place in the cockpit of a Viggen after some talk with the pilot.
My dad also rolled into this hobby strange aint it? But just like every spotters you always start too late. For me its missing the F-111's in Europe.
While he Serviced the army for his number he was stationed at Amersfoort right at the end of Soesterberg AB. That was in 1972 so missed the F-4E's.
