TRIP TO SWEDEN IN MAY 2003.
WE LEFT HOLLAND ROUND 9 IN THE MORNING WITH A FLIGHT FROM EINDHOVEN TO LONDEN STN AND FROM THERE TO STOCKHOLM SKAVSKA WHERE WE PICKED UP OUR RENTALL CAR AND STARTED WITH THE FIRST MILITARY PLANES IN THE LOCAL MUSEUM

THURSDAY IN THE AFTERNOON BEFORE WE WENT LOOKING FOR THE YOUTH-HOSTEL WE DROVE PASS MALMEN AND WE HEARD A CHOPPER NOT LONG AFTER THIS WE SAW A HKP-4 THAT CAME RIGHT AT US BUT IT WAS TOO LATE TO MAKE A PICTURE.

AFTER A SEARCH WE ARRIVED AT THE YOUTH-HOSTEL DOWNTOWN LINKOPING WICH TURNED OUT TO COST MORE THEN WHAT THE BOOKS SAID ( PAY FOR ROOM BUT NO BED-SHEETS AND BREAKFAST INCLUDED).
IN LINKOPING WAS SOME KIND OF FESTIVAL PEOPLE DRESSED UP IN THE STRANGEST OUTFITS IT LOOKED LIKE CARNAVAL.....BUT I'M STILL NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS.

THE MOST FLYING WAS DONE ONLY A CEREMONY WAS THERE FOR A NEW COMMANDER, SOME OFF THE HELICOPTERS MADE A FLYBY.
THE PRES. PLANES ARE LOCATED AROUND THE BASE AND SOME NOT EASY TO SPOT.

AFTER THIS WE DROVE TO BERGA BUT IT WAS ALLREADY TO LATE SO WE DIDN'T SEE ANY HELICOPTERS.
THE NEXT DAY WE STARTED TO RECONSIDER OUR PLANNING THE MAIN PLANNING WAS DRIVE TO OSTERSUND AND GO BACK SOUTH AFTER THAT BUT MISSING THE RECCE VIGGENS AND MOST LIKELY THE SK-37'S WE DECIDED TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO LULEA AND SKIP THE SOUTH .
THE OTHER DAY WE VISITED THE OTHER 2 FIELDS FROM STOCKHOLM AT BROMMA NO LUCK NO SIGHT ON MILITARY PLANES NOT EVEN AFTER WALKING PASS THE GOLFCOURSE WE DID SEE THE FLIGHTLINE BUT I THINK EVERYTHING WAS INSIDE.

WHEN SPOTTING AT ARLANDA WE SAW SOMETHING CROSS THE FIELD THAT LOOKED LIKE A FIGHTER (JETS FLYING ON SATURDAY?).
NOT LONG AFTER WE FOUND OUT THAT WE SAW IT RIGHT CAUSE AT UPPSALA THEY WHERE PUTTING 4 VIGGENS INSIDE SO THAT MEANS UPPSALA HAD A MISSION.

LIKE A WEEK AFTER OUR VISIT IN SWEDEN DUTCH NEWSPAPERS HAD A SMALL ARTICAL ABOUT THE SWEDISH AIRFORCE: THEY WILL ONLY FLY BETWEEN OFFICE TIMES SO THAT MEANS NO WEEKEND MISSIONS ANYMORE.

AT THE TIME WE ARRIVED BY THE AJ-37 BESIDE THE E-4 WE HAD SOMETHING LIKE:

SO WE CAME TO THE MAINGATE AND FOUND THE MUSEUM THE GATE WAS OPEN AND THERE WAS NOBODY TO SEE CAUSE IT WAS 6.00PM.
AFTER WE MADE PICTURES FROM THE PLANES OUTSIDE AND READ MOST OF THE S/N INSIDE WE DROVE A LITTLE AROUND TO SEE IF WE COULD FIND SOMETHING LIKE A DUMP.....BUT NO LUCK

ON MONDAY-MORNING WE WENT FULL GOOD HOPE TO LULEA BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP MUCH. AT THE GATE WE ASKED FOR THE PR. OFFICER BUT HE WASN'T THERE AND SOMEONE ELSE FROM THE PR CAME AND TOLD US THAT THERE WOULDN'T BE MUCH FLYING CAUSE THERE WAS A BIG EXERCISE GOING ON AT A WARBASE BETWEEN SUNDVALL AND OSTERSUND.
AND ALSO OSTERSUND WILL FLY FROM THERE.
SO WE DROVE UP NORTH FOR NOTHING. BUT THE BAD THING IS THEY NEVER MENTIONED IT IN THE EMAILS.
EVEN AFTER CALLING SOMEONE AT THE H.Q IT WASN'T POSSIBLE TO FOREIGNERS TO VISIT THE WARBASE ONLY SWEDISH PRESS WAS ALLOWED.

EVEN AT BODEN WASN'T MUCH TO SEE ONLY 2 HPK-10'S OUTSIDE AND LUCKY TO CATCH ONE OF THEM FLYING.
SO AFTER THAT WE STARTED THE LONG WAY BACK SOUTH, AND GOT A BIG FINE FOR SPEEDING. BUT CAN'T REALLY COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT CAUSE IT WAS 15KM/H BUT THE COP MADE IT 14 SO WE DIDN'T HAD TO GO TO COURT FOR IT (SO MAYBE A LITTLE LUCK?).
AFTER A TALK WE DECIDED THAT IT WOULD BETTER TO GO HOME CAUSE IT COSTED US MORE $$ THEN WE PLANNED AND GO ALL THE WAY SOUTH WOULD COST US ALOT TIME ALSO.

SO THE NEXT DAY WE TOOK THE PLANE BACK HOME AND WELL IT A NICE COUNTRY WITH VERY NICE PLANES BUT A VACATION THERE COST ALOT $$$$$$$...AND WE HAD BAD LUCK
