The Top 3 of the season (of in total 2500 votes):

1. Ovidiu Stinga (27 points)

2. Philip Cocu (24 points)

3. Ronald Waterreus (23 points)

For the close watchers of our site it won't come as a surprice, that Ovidiu Stinga has been choosen 'Most valuable player of the year 1997/1998'. Since Zeljko Petrovic left us to go to Japan and Ovidiu took his place, he was almost every week in the top 3 of the Man of the Match competition. Because of Stinga not playing almost whole of the first half of the season, winning this award is even more of an achievement. At this moment Ovidiu Stinga is in Romania to prepare himself for the World Cup in France, because of that we are not able to congratulate them with the award. We wish Stinga a lot of succes during the World Cup and definitely will follow him in Frabce. Stinga, congratulations!!!!

The second place is for Philip Cocu. The midfielder, who will leave us to go to Barcelona next season, earned a lot of points during the first half of the season. Beginning from the first match he was leading the totral rankings till far in the second half of the season, when he was passed bij Stinga. At the end of the season he came back in great shape and will definitely want to show himself in France. Philip, good luck in Barcelona and don't let Van Gaal make you crazy.

Te third place is reserved for keeper Ronald Waterreus. Waterreus played a fantastic season and did win a lot of points directly for PSV with his saves. Waterreus deserves all the credits for an outstanding year. In the beginning of the season Georg Koch got the chance, but Waterreus came back better as he ever was. Waterreus will stay with us till 2000. "I earn enough money over here, so why would I go to Germany?", Ronald Waterreus has said. We wished there were more players like him. Waterreus has not been chosen for the Dutch team, not even as replacement (4th keeper). How good does a keeper has to play for that?????? Anyway, Ronald, have a nice holiday and we'll see you back on July 13th, the first day of practise. The goal will be safe next year with you and new signing "Patje" Lodewijks (former PSV player came from FC Groningen, came originally from our own youth department) as a second keeper.

We thank all the supporters for their weekly votes (about 2500 in total),
