- PSV contracts Brazilian striker Manoel
- Very surprising, PSV has contracted the Brazilian striker
Manoel Lourence da Silva Filho. It was known that scouts
from PSV have been in Brazil last week, but the buy of a
new player was not expected. Also in Brazil was it a big
surprise. The Brazilian is almost 20 and comes from
Ferroviário Atlético Ituano de Itu from Sao Paulo. He
has signed a contract in Eindhoven today. The contract is
valid immediatly. He leaves to Brazil again and then
comes back on Thursday next week to train for the first
time by PSV. He is called Manoel in Brazil. He's a very
good, talented young striker. He became famous in Copa
Sao Paulo, a tournament for u21. It's a tall good heading
and technical skilled striker. He was hired to Porto
Alegre and his team won the tournament. The Brazilian
striker made six goals in 7 games and he was second on
the topscorerslist. Arnesen didn't want to say how much
money the player costed, but he said PSV has been very
fast to prevent the price became too high. Serveral
Brazilian and abroad clubs were interested in the young
attacker. The player is bought for the future, he will
have to learn a lot and he will be implented in the team
slowly like Claudio, said Arnesen. In the second half of
the season, PSV will give him the time to become
acclimatized in PSV 2. 'It's a big step ofcourse for such
a young player from a little Brazilian club to Europe,'
according to Arnesen.

-
- PSV loses from number 3 of Belgium
- PSV could not impress in and against Harelbeke, the
number 3 of Belgium. PSV played for almost 10.000
spectators with an almost perfect team. PSV took the lead
with a goal of Zenden after a quarter, but already before
half-time Harelbeke came back: 2-1. PSV showed nice
things, but at the end of the first half it became worse
and worse. In the second half, there were a lot of
substitutions in both teams. Degryse, who came in the
team for Nilis, also showed some nice examples of great
play, but also he couldn't avoid that Harelbeke saved the
game with the third goal.
-
- 'Lazetic not to PSV'
- According to a fanpage of Red Star Belgrado, Lazetic
won't go to PSV. The clubmanagement should have decided
not to sell the young defender. The 19-year-old defender
from Yugoslavia u21 was also being followed by Feyenoord.
-
- Skerla stays by PSV?
- VI reports today that PSV hasn't reached an agreement
with Antwerp about the hiring of Skerla. Probably, the

PSV wanted to hire the young defender to let him get
experience.
-

- VI reports that Ronald Waterreus is suspended by the UEFA
for 2 games because of his red card against Barcelona.
Waterreus saved with a handsball outside the penalty area
a draw for PSV.
-
- Den Bosch doesn't want Matys
- FC Den Bosch has let known Piotr Matys and PSV that they
don't want the Polish striker from PSV 2. Matys was a
week on try by FC Den Bosch. The rejection isn't a
surpirse, because the Pole could not impress in the two
testgames he played with Den Bosch.
-
January 27
-
- Cocu agrees with new club
- The manager of Cocu said that they almost agreed with
Cocu's contract, there are just some details to discuss
left. Cocu will tell the name of his new club at the end
of the week. This will probably be Barcelona or Inter
Milan.

-
- Oranje plays in Philips stadium
- On the road to France, the Dutch national team
will also play in Eindhoven. On Juny 1 they'll
play the game against Paraguay. This game should
be played in the 'Kuip', the Feyenoord stadium,
but then it was thought that also a game against
Argentina would be played. With the less
attractive Paraguay, the 'Kuip' wouldn't be
filled very well. Nice for the Philips stadium
and for PSV, financially seen.

Feyenoord is going to contract the Yugoslavian defender
Lazetic. Lazetic plays by Red Star Belgrado. Also PSV is
following the 19-year-old defender, who also plays for
Young Yugoslavia, for a while.
-
- Scout Tonnie Bruins Slot in Brazil
- Tonnie Bruins Slot is this week in Brazil to scout young
talents. Normally, PSV won't add any new players to the
team this year. "But if we get the chance to
contract a good player, we will take that chance. Don't
be surprised if another Brazilian player comes to PSV,
for example. PSV still has many contacts in Brazil.
Tonnie Bruins Slot is this week in Brazil to scout. But
we're not the only team there. Were we come, you also see
Ajax and Feyenoord and the topteams from other
countries," said Advocaat in the 'Eindhovens
Dagblad'.

-
- Noises about Advocaat are going on (2)
- The 'Brabants Dagblad' reports today that Advocaat
already said yes to the Glasgow Rangers. Advocaat should
even have said that he wants to take Jaap Stam, Arthur
Numan and Boudewijn Zenden to the Scottisch team.
Advocaat told the press that it's "absolute
nonsense" that he would leave to Glasgow. But for a
camera of STV was he less sure about that and he said PSV
will probably not allow him to leave. Murray repeated
yesterday that he hasn't offered anything serieus to
anyone. "I have two persons left and I hope to make
a decision in February. It's probably better not to make
this known before the end of the season, because both
coaches still have a contract by an other team."
-
- Probably no operation De Bilde
- If the conclusion that De Bilde has a little hernia is
right, an injection may be the the solution. De Bilde
will not be available for the team for only 6 weeks then.
The injection has to prevent an operation. An operation
would keep the Belgian striker for 4 up to 6 months off
the field, and that would mean that the season was over
for De Bilde.

- Vampeta doesn't agree with contract yet
- Corinthians made known that they have the needed money
for the transfer of Vampeta. The only problem are the

they will pay the money for the transfer if they'll reach
an agreement with Vampeta.
-
- 'Advocaat wants to Glasgow Rangers'
- Different Scottish newspapers reported today that
Advocaat told some of his friends that he would like to
accept the offer of Glasgow Rangers. Advocaat can earn 3
million guilders a year by Glasgow. They want him to lead
Glasgow to European successes. Advocaat: "I've met a
delegation of Glasgow Rangers and I like their offer very
well. The Glasgow supporters are great and the
prestations in Scotland are fine, but I know it's not
going very well in Europe. It's a hard decision because I
still have a contract by PSV, so actually I'll have to
stay, but you never know how things can change in
football."
-
- Noises about Advocaat are going on
- Advocaat denied yesterday in Marocco again that he's
interested in a transfer to Glasgow. In spit of the fact
that the noises are only getting stronger. The
'Volkskrant' bases themself today on the Scottisch
Express. This newspaper reports a transfer to Scotland.
They have their information from important persons in the
Glasgow board. It's also confirmed by Graeme Souness, the
old trainer who still has good contacts with the board.
The 'Volkskrant' seems satisfied that it's the truth:
"The two best teams from Glasgow will probably be
trained by Dutch trainers next year. Wim Jansen is this
season working by Celtic."
-
- De Bilde cut down by hernia
- De Bilde will be operated tomorrow because of a little
hernia. De Bilde had again trouble with a sore muscle in
his rump in Marocco. After research of the clubmedic, it
become clear that the cause is a goggled vertebra. He
won't be available for the team for a about 8 weeks.
Frank Arnesen said he will be missed, but there enough
other good players who can take his place for the time
he's injured.

is still not sure whether Ooyer can play this weekend in
the tournament of Casablanca.

- According to the Dutch newspaper AD PSV is also
interested in the Finnish Jonas Kolkka. The left forward
will be on a free transfer at the end of this season and
many clubs are interested. Kolkka already had a
pre-agreement with Feyenoord, but he put off his final
decision to sort out the offers. Kolkka maybe a good
replacement for Boudewijn Zenden who probably will leave
PSV on a free transfer at the end of next year.

playing. The player earned his contract after a week on

- PSV players in EC2000
- The groups for the qualification of the EC2000 have been
formed. The Dutch and the Belgian of course are free
because they are the host of the matches in 2000. Also a
couple of matches will be played in our own Philips
stadium. Moller and Jensen play with Denmark in a heavy
group against Italy, Suiss, Wales and Belarus. Stinga
will play with Romania against Portugal, Slovakia,
Hungary, Liechtenstein and Azerbeidzjan. Tomeck Iwan will
play with Poland against England, Bulgary, Sweden, and
Luxembourg. Last but not least Khokhlov will play with
Russia against France, Oekraine, Iceland, Armenie and
Andorra. We hope Gudjohnsen will be back with the Iceland
squad when he is fully recovered after two years of
misery.
-
- Corinthians can't pay the fee yet
- Manager Sergio from the Excel Bank has said he is waiting
for AS Roma to pay the 4 million dollar for Carlos. That
money will be used to pay PSV for Vampeta (3,5 million
dollar). If the money is transferred Vampeta is cleared
to pay for Corinthians.
-
January 17
-
- Vampeta tonight to Brasil
- Vampeta will leave tonight to Brasil to join Corinthians.
Manager Frank Arnesen got the assurance of Martins,
manager of Vampeta, that Corinthians will pay the
transfer fee next week. PSV has a good relationship with
Martins (they know him also from Romario), so they
trusted Martins and give Vampeta permission to go back to
Brasil. When PSV receives the money he can play for
Corinthians immediately.
-
January 16
-
- PSV win friendly with 3-2
- PSV did play a difficult first match of the season. In
the friendly against TOP/Oss (2nd division) PSV could
only win with 3-2 (at home). PSV started with the major
names (Valckx played for Vampeta, Jensen for Numan and
Bruggink for De Bilde). After a 0-1 by Stefanovic, Luc
Nilis made 1-1. The first half wasn't good at all.
TOP/Oss got two more big chances but failed to score. In
second half PSV started with almost a whole new team. PSV
was finally the better team and showed their class
sometimes. The Danish international Peter Moller scored
both goals for 3-2. Before that Cornelisse had put
TOP/Oss back on the lead. Especially Tomeck Iwan and
Peter Moller showed their abilities in the second half.
Numan, Ooyer and De Bilde where for unknown reasons not
availible.
-
- Cocu still no decision
- This morning there was a lot of talk about Philip Cocu.
In one of the most important newspaper AD was the story
on the frontpage that Cocu had signed a contract with
Barcelona. But today Cocu denied this fact. He is still
in negotiations with both Barcelona and Inter. He was in
Barcelona last week for Barcelona, but also already had
talks with Inter. Cocu wants to make the right choice and
will take all the time he needs for that, Cocu said. Cocu
will now definitely not leave bfore the end of the
season. PSV don't want to let go of him, before that
time. PSV will miss out on a transfer fee by this
decision, because Cocu's contract will end at the end of
the season.
-
January 15
-
- Degryse stays with PSV
- Marc Degryse could go away with a free transfer, but for
now he stays with PSV. The 33 year old forward got a lot
of offers, but they all had to be finalised before the
end of the 15th of January because of the closing of the
transfer periods. The player didn't want to be under that
pressure and would take his time to make his choice for
next year. So he turned down offers from Olympique
Marseille, Olympiqye Lyon, Sevilla and Excelsior
Moescroen. The contract of the 63 times international
ends in June.
-
- Vampeta-transfer still not finished
- Corinthians seems to have problems to finalise the
transfer of Vampeta. According to a local newspaper
Corinthians haven't contacted PSV since last week. It is
said that Corinthians have to sell Carlos (to AS Roma)
before they can pay the money for Vampeta. Corinthians
had said the negotiations couldn't be finished beforenext
week. Nevertheless Alexandre Martins (manager of Vampeta)
said that he wants a definitive answer about the transfer
before the end of tomorrow. 'If PSV and Corinthians don't
agree about the transfer fee (PSV demands the contractual
3,5 million dollars), okay then I stay. It's not that I
have to go away, PSV is a good club for me. But 3,5 years
is long enough, I am not the player that plays for the
same club six years in a row", said Vampeta.

January 13
-
- BBC: PSV and Feyenoord interested in Tomasson
- BBC Ceefax has said that both PSV and Feyenoord are
interested in signing Jon Dahl Tomasson. The Danish
attacking midfielder plays for Newcastle United this
year. Tomasson had some problems because he had to play
as a forward which is difficult for him. It is said NUFC
may want to let go of Tomasson if they offer more then
the amount NUFC payed last year (about 3,75 million
dollar). According to Bloomberg Advocaat already has
talked to Tomasson.

- The Scottish newspaper Daily Record said that Advocaat
has already have had talks with Murray, chairman of
Glasgow Rangers. According to them Advocaat is the
candidate number 1, but Nurray has also had talks with
two others. A week ago Advocaat went to the Channel
Islands to talk to Murray, the paper said. The coach was
offered the amazing amount of 1 million pounds (3 million
guilders) a year for 3 years. But Murray said he demanded
three championship titles and European succes for that in
return. Advocaat should have said he was very interested
in the offer as he wanted a new adventure after 3,5 years
of PSV. This all is according to the Daily Record, we
have no confirmation of this news.
-
- Glasgow Rangers interested in coach Advocaat
- The Scottish team Glasgow Rangers is interested in

- Dutch FA threatens Den Bosch with 'stupid'
punishment
- The KNVB (Dutch Football Association) threatens Den Bosch
to give them a 0-1 defeat if they can't organize the Cup
match FC Den Bosch-PSV in their own stadium. The Cup
Match can't be played in Den Bosch because the police has
forbidden the match due to constructions works in the
neighbourhood of the stadium. The KNVB has ruled out a
change of the match to the stadium of PSV. Why this move
is ruled out is totally unclear as they did allow a
change of the match De Baronie-Feyenoord earlier this
season in the same Cup. We sure don't want to win this
way against our neighbours Den Bosch (second division).
-
- February 11 PSV-FC Utrecht

offer to get Cocu in the winter break just as we expected
Inter would do. But Cocu still hasn't decided whether he
want to stay till the end of the season or leave
immediately. He will choose between Barcelona and Inter
then. PSV isn't fond of letting him go, because they
still hope to become champions, but the money they can
make with his transfer (he's free at the end of the
season) could ease the decision.
-

RKC Waalwijk, but till March PSV can get him back
whenever they want. Roda JC wants to make a deal before
January 15, so he is allowed to play in the European Cup
for Roda JC against Vicenza. Looking at the right wingers
within PSV (Stinga, Iwan and Vink), there isn't much
chance Nielsen will come back to PSV.
January 6
-
- PSV asks 3,5 million dollar for Vampeta

completely sure, because his wife is pregnant and
expecting a baby that same day. Ooyer wanted to stay in
the Netherlands, that's why he didn't took one of the
offers from abroad. On the question why he didn't choose
for the excellent offer of rivals Ajax Ooyer said: 'My
feeling said to choose for PSV'.
