What is BookyBase

BookyBase is a bookmark server. It allows you to store and manage your bookmarks outside a browser. By connecting the bookmark server to the Internet you can access, use and update your bookmarks from virtually every Internet connected desktop PC. BookyBase supports multiple users.

BookyBase is protected by GNU/GPL.

Running BookyBase

... requires a webserver, PHP and MySQL. At "BookMark home" it runs on a Pentium II Debian GNU/Linux v3r0 (Woody) with Apache v1.3, PHP v4.0 and MySQL v3.23.

Using BookyBase

... requires a W3C (CSS level 2, DOM level 1) compliant browser with JavaScript enabled. Like Mozilla1.0/Netscape6, Konqueror2.2 and up. The Microsoft Internet Explorer v5.0 will do too.

Design requirements

  • Clean, simple, functional user interface
  • No big fonts and numerous controls using up space
  • Easy to use above bells and whistles.
  • Bandwith requirement = a priority
  • Use W3C subset that works with Mozilla1.0, Konqueror3.0 and IE5.0 and up
