Duintje's 2CV Restoration
Day 1: The chassis, body and the engine are seperated
Related to most chassis this chassis is in a very good shape. Thanks to earlier tectyl treatments. The shoes need a good polish treatment.
The engine was running vey well, so no need to restore the engine. I have only cleaned it with a steamcleaner.
Standard in almost every 2CV: rust around the rubber buffer in your rear wing panels
Also standard: in many 2CV´s the front of the luggage compartement is rotten. Most of the time the chassis underneath these places is also rotten.
At the top of the body (where you fix your roof) some new sheet-iron have been welded. Also the border at the bottom of my window is replaced. An old 2CV was the donor for all this material.
The chassis is ready. Some places have been welded and I have given the chassis a tectyle treatment (inside and outside). I have also checked all the bearings. They were all in good condition, just a little dry. So new grease on them.
All those tectyl have made my 2CV kilograms heavier....But it´s the preservation of your car.
All dents have been filled and primered
Ille.....without his help I would still be working....Thanks pal..
The car is painted with the original color, Rouge Vallelunga (AC448)
2CV red is beautifull
After 3 layers of painting everything has to dry for 24 hours....
The 2CV is very well painted and loaded in the trailer....
This is the nicest part of the restoration...building up....finally
Almost ready...
3 months of work.....but the result is very fine...
